Therapy for OCD and anxiety disorders

Helping adults overcome obsessive thoughts, compulsions and anxiety using evidence-based psychological therapy.

Welcome, my name is Inês Ventura and I am an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, specialising in OCD and anxiety disorders, providing online appointments or in person appointments in Amersham.

When intrusive thoughts, constant doubt, excessive worry, anxiety or compulsions begin to take over, everyday life can feel exhausting. You may find yourself avoiding situations, seeking reassurance, checking repeatedly, or feeling trapped in cycles that are difficult to break. Therapy offers a space to understand what is happening and, more importantly, to learn practical, evidence-based ways to respond differently.

Together, we'll work to understand the patterns that keep anxiety going and develop the skills needed to move towards the life you want, even when anxiety is present.

My approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), helping you make sense of the relationship between your thoughts, emotions and behaviours in a way that is compassionate, collaborative and practical.

It’s my passion to support people with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) as I know how debilitating and scary it can be.

The recommended treatment for OCD is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, particularly a structured approach that includes working directly with feared situations and reducing compulsive responses. Another evidence-based approach that we can use is Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which focuses on how doubt and intrusive thoughts are formed and maintained.

As an accredited CBT psychotherapist I have had training and experience with supporting people with OCD and I believe that with the right support it is possible to reduce its impact and regain a greater sense of freedom in daily life.

Could this be OCD?
